July 2015

Happy Summer!

As I take the reins of the WCGN Board of Directors this month, I must first thank our outgoing chair, Laura Midgley. Her vision and leadership throughout her two-year term resulted in tremendous leaps forward for our network. Gratefully, she continues to serve on our board, and now steps into the past chair role, leads the nominating committee, and co-chairs our technology and communications committee. Thank you, Laura!

The WCGN Board extends a special thanks to all of you and proudly announces that we now have a 100 percent renewal rate from our WCGN member organizations. For a second year in a row you've voted with your pocketbooks, underscoring the value WCGN membership brings to your collective giving organization. We are working very hard to ensure we continue to deliver compelling programs and inspiring conferences while building a national collective giving movement driven by women-powered philanthropy. Many thanks for your continued support.

Your board spent its annual June retreat in the fascinating city of Charlotte, NC, the site of our upcoming October conference. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to connect and learn with fellow network members as well as to explore the Queen City, known for its gracious hospitality and a strong and vibrant philanthropic community. And please remember early bird rates for conference registration end July 31.

Our collective giving groups come in different sizes and shapes, but whether we call ourselves a fund, a foundation, an Impact 100, or a women's giving circle we are all dedicated to the same goals—empowering women to develop philanthropic leadership and amplifying the power of collective giving!

You are the key to our growth. The majority of women learn about collective giving from those of us who are engaged in it. Your energy and excitement draws others to us. Keep up the good work!

Please join the WCGN Board in giving a warm of welcome to our newest members:

  • Impact 100 Greater Milwaukee (Milwaukee, WI)
  • Women’s Giving Fund (Park City, UT)
  • Women’s Giving Circle of Cumberland County (Fayetteville, NC)
And speaking of WCGN members new and old, if your new leadership hasn't yet explored all that WCGN has to offer, please add their names to your WCGN roster and encourage them to connect online to the resources we offer 24/7. Here's how to add new leadership to your WCGN roster.

I look forward to meeting many of you at our Charlotte conference October 15-17. It’s going to be great.

Virginia Mills

WCGN Board Chair
